Srinivas Garlapati

Healthcare Administration Professor & Researcher

His publications have been cited over 600 times. Fascinated by the Canadian universal health system and his interest in healthcare systems and health policy, he pursued the MHA program at the School of Health Ad-ministration, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also worked in clinical research projects at the Department of Microbiology, studying immune senescence caused by HIV, HCV and CMV. He later took up curriculum development and teaching assignments at Canadore College. Srinivas earned the PMP designation, a certificate in inter-professional health education and a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma. He teaches courses in Healthcare Communications, Management, Leadership, and Quality Improvement at Conestoga College. His current research interests are health policy, economic evaluation of health programs, and health equity. He continues his learning journey through teaching, research, and scholarship.

Dr. Srinivas Garlapati, PhD, MHA, served as a Professor of Healthcare Administration and Services Management at Conestoga and Canadore colleges in the GTA. His current areas of interest are in health systems, health policy, and health equity. His primary areas of research are the development of new-generation vaccines. Srinivas holds a BVSc & AH from the College of Veterinary Sciences, Tirupati, and a master’s and PhD in Biotechnology from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), where he developed molecular diagnostic tools for Trypanosoma evansi and worked on novel vaccine technologies. Srinivas immigrated to Canada in 2006. He conducted pivotal research at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-Intervac) at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Srinivas worked as a project leader supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation under the Grand Challenges in Global Health program, which aimed to develop single-shot vaccines for children in developing countries. He worked on multiple projects funded by the Gates Foundation, CIHR, and the Krembil Foundation and developed novel adjuvant platforms for vaccines against pertussis, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus infection. Dr. Srinivas has supported senior management at IWK Health Centre in laying the groundwork for the Ambulatory Data Governance project. Dr. Garlapati has also worked on HIV, HCV, and CMV clinical projects in the Department of Microbiology at Dalhousie University.
